Virtual Choir Project 2024
The Virtual Choir 2024 premiere was held to great fanfare on 24 September – it was almost one year in the making and involved many helpful hearts and hands. Our thanks must go to Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival and Kelvin Lau for inviting New Sight as the featured charity, and their support for our work in Congo. We must also thank Joyce Cheung for composing this moving song that allows Hong Kong and Congo to connect through music. A big thank you to every participant of the choir – including our own inter-school choir in Ouesso, our Congo team, especially Wendy, Spencer, Arnaud, Ezra, Karis, plus the support from Cherissa, Joyce and Henri – your heartfelt and pure voices and efforts have touched our hearts and many people around the world.

Here are some excerpts of Co-founder Joyce Samoutou-Wong’s social media post:
“It is hard to find the words to describe how Henri and I are feeling as the original song written for New Sight Congo was released this weekend – proud, grateful, amazed, happy, overwhelmed…”
“Yep! We have fallen in love with the >2000 children, musicians, teachers and contributors who made this year’s Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival virtual choir such a resounding success! What you have done have encouraged us and hypnotised us into a complete state of happiness. Your hearts have inspired so many across the world and moved us to tears. We saw you when God planted the dream of project #twofrontteeth in our hearts all those years ago and you turned out to be more beautiful and magnificent than we could ever have imagined! Thank you so much!
The photo is of the little choir we formed in Congo on the day of recording (can you spot Ezra and Karis helping out?). The equatorial sun was so strong that all our phone cameras kept shutting down due to overheating, but far from being inpatient, the children were so happy, proud, and excited as such opportunities do not usually come by in our corner of the world. Having more views of their music video on YouTube will be one way of helping them see how powerful they are!”
